After breakfast, another day of volunteering at the center.  Lunch provided.  Since your day will consist of volunteering, this will give us a chance to share the lovely flora of Nepal.

Lali Gurans, National Flower of Nepal

There are over thirty species of Rhododendron in Nepal.  The most renowned is Rhododendron arboreum, known as Gurans in Nepali.  There are extensive and magnificent Rhododendron arboreum forests throughout the country ranging in elevation.  The highest species diversity is found in the Himalaya.

Suna Khari Orchid

When it comes to orchids, Nepal is the paradise for this variety of flowers because the region has a moist atmosphere and cloudy forest that is conducive for the growth of orchids.  Orchids are like the national treasure of Nepal and it has attracted collectors so much so that some have also attempted heists for securing the rare wild varieties of orchids.  There are 386 registered orchid varieties in Nepal and each year three to four and even more varieties of orchids are discovered just in Nepal.

Blue Pine Tree

The main tree species in this area is evergreen oak.  Birch and Alder trees can also be found around waterways.  There are many blue-pine forests in western Nepal, found mainly on south faces.
